RAWSON KIRKHOPE

HEAD COACH

Rawson’s coaching style inspires you to push yourself to your absolute limits – and somehow, leaves you wanting more. As a Strength and Conditioning coach, he helps his members to achieve their health and fitness goals, all while doing it with a smile on his face.

Rawson’s passion for health and fitness started at an early age, growing up in Tassie, he threw himself into any sport he possibly could. Team sports such as Aussie Rules Football and Cricket were his passions, playing at a high level in both sports. His passion for team based activity was amplified when he joined the Royal Australian Navy. Serving for 10 years, his programming and training style is heavily influenced by this.

Always up for a laugh and a chat, he is committed to providing a fun, but challenging training environment. Commitment and discipline are his training ethos, and he’ll hold you accountable to this.

HAMISH YOUNG

HEAD COACH

Hamish (Hamo) is an experienced PT with over 10 years’ experience helping people to kick their fitness goals and feel great in the process.

Living an active lifestyle has always been his passion, but it wasn’t until he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in his teens that he found his purpose - to help others overcome setbacks and find happiness through movement and training.

Hamo is known as an all-round good guy with a side of cheekiness that will put a smile on your face each day. He’s a stickler for technique and has been known to make even the most inflexible person fall in love with Olympic Lifting. His encouraging training style is his superpower, and he’ll use it to bring out the best in you.

CALUM YOUNG

COACH

Calum has a strong passion and commitment for all things health and fitness. From an early age, his passion was developed and consolidated through a natural interest in sports science, and participation in various competitive sports. Finding fortune and gratification in helping others achieve their fitness goals, Calum attained his Cert IV in personal training where he could begin to turn his passion into a profession. With a fun, and motivational attitude towards training and coaching, Calum has dedicated himself to providing a holistic approach to help groups and individuals become better versions of themselves.

MIKE STEVENS

COACH

Meet Mike, a Personal Trainer and Coach for 5 years, fuelled by an unwavering passion for health and fitness. His journey began early, driven by a natural curiosity for sports science and active participation in competitive sports. Guided by the desire to help others achieve their fitness aspirations, he earned his Cert IV in personal training, turning his passion into a profession.

Over the years, he has built strong relationships with clients, many of whom have been with him for 4 years. Mike is also a dedicated family man, a father to a daughter, and husband to his wife, along with their beloved dog Missy, a Staffy. Mike keeps the energy high with the best DJs, making each session both fun and motivating. With infectious enthusiasm and a motivational approach to training and coaching, Mike is devoted to delivering a well-rounded experience, empowering both groups and individuals to become the best versions of themselves.

TORI MOORE

Meet Tori Moore, a dedicated Personal Trainer and Coach with 6 years of experience in the fitness scene of Bondi Beach. Her journey in fitness began with a deep-seated passion for health and wellness, which she channeled into creating her own personal training brand, Toz PT, 4 years ago.

Tori’s commitment to her clients is unwavering; she’s built strong, lasting relationships with many who have been with her since the very start. Her goal is to ensure everyone feels welcomed and supported, transforming their fitness journey into a fun and empowering experience.

When she’s not pushing clients to reach their full potential—both physically and mentally—Tori enjoys spending time with her family and friends and staying active in her community. With her infectious energy and motivational approach, Tori is dedicated to helping individuals and groups become the best versions of themselves while getting the most out of every session.

ABI WHITE

COACH

An athlete herself and 6-time National IAPS swimming champion for the UK, Abi is an avid sportswoman. Out of the pool, she is a keen weightlifter and thrives off endurance training, both on the gym floor and out on the roads running. With six years of experience as a personal trainer, she has coached a variety of clients from beginners in weight training, to elite athletes. As a Sports Coach, she specialises in preparing her clients to accomplish lifetime achievements – marathons, triathlons, and ultra-races and the chances are high that she will be alongside you. She loves a challenge and has big plans for 2025 - a 101km race in Tasmania, a 70.3km Ironman, and a multi-day adventure race (watch this space)!

Becki Baldwin

COACH

Meet Becki Baldwin, a dedicated fitness instructor from London with over 8 years of experience. Specializing in strength and technique, she offers both classes and 1-on-1 personal training.

Becki has trained in various disciplines, including earning her 200-hour Yoga instructor qualification in Bali. With over four years of experience in pre/postnatal programs, she blends innovative techniques with proven methods for a unique training experience. Her expertise in Olympic weightlifting adds to her versatility as a coach.

Join Becki every Saturday at 10am for her Women’s Weightlifting Club, the first female-focused weightlifting community in Bondi, aimed at empowering women to take up space in the gym. Whether you are looking to build strength, improve your technique, or navigate your fitness journey through pre/postnatal training, Becki is here to guide and inspire you every step of the way.

Jesse Bakewell

COACH

Jesse began his journey and passion for strength & conditioning after finishing year 12 at Scots College in 2015 when he took up an internship at the Bristol Bears Rugby Club in the UK. With a rugby devoted family and a father who was a professional rugby coach, he wanted to stay close to the game he loved, S&C allowed him to follow both passions at once, which started a stint in rugby spanning 6 years. After returning to Sydney, Jesse found Vrtus, a gym devoted to S&C and fell in love with the place. Jesse went onto completing his cert 3 & 4 at Vrtus and was hired as a coach at the start of August 2024 where he now wishes to continue his journey helping people become the best version of themselves.

Sophie Heron

COACH

Sophie is a practising physiotherapist and with 5 years of experience in the fitness industry, she is passionate in sharing the “how’s and why’s” of human anatomy when it comes to your training capacities and goals. As an ex competitive skier and having grown up in the East Suburbs, VRTUS was a natural fit when it came to sharing knowledge and connecting with the Bondi wellness community. Sophie shows special interest in women’s strength, conditioning, and corrective rehabilitation to get you moving and feeling the way you need to for life both in and out of the gym. Creating well-rounded programs to address lean muscle building, overall body composition, mobility and improved CV fitness is what she’s all about.
